A message from Matt Anderson

Dear colleagues and friends, I wanted to let you know that I am leaving Carers Support at the end of June to pursue some new challenges in life and to see a bit more of the world.

After a 25 year stint in the civil service working in London, I joined CSWS in October 2013 and have had the most rewarding and privileged experience in supporting our amazing carers.  I have also been privileged to work with wonderful colleagues from different backgrounds, who I have learned so much from.

I am very proud in having worked with colleagues to develop aspects of our service, especially our work with Young Adult Carers.  They are a truly inspiring group of young people who I will miss very much.  Our partnership with WSCC Young Carers has I think been a great success.  Long may it continue and strengthen, as our My Future  groups are providing a great route for 16 & 17 year olds to transition into our service.

Along the way, I have had so many memorable ‘learning experiences’,  from the fabulous Volharding sailing trip with our young people, through to my experience in a caravan in a dark wood in the middle of nowhere – Tina can tell you more about this!

I can see so much potential for CSWS looking ahead, especially with the exciting new initiatives like social prescribing, which seems a great opportunity for more partnership work.

I will miss the many colleagues I have worked so closely with and known in the organisation – you are an exceptional group of people delivering an exceptionally valuable service.  Thanks for your support and friendship over the years.
