A warm welcome from the Arun Team at Carers Support West Sussex. Our friendly and dedicated team are here to provide information, guidance, and support in your caring role. We also want to find ways for you to better manage your caring role while looking after your own health and wellbeing. If you would like to talk to one of the team, contact us to book into one of our dedicated phone surgeries and chose a date and time suitable to you.

Local Groups and Events

You can meet a member of our team for a face-to-face chat at one of our carer clinics. These offer an opportunity for you to meet in a private and safe environment to chat about how we can support you in your caring role. Please get in touch with us by emailing arun@carerssupport.org.uk to agree a suitable time for you to come and chat with us.

Carer Groups

You can also meet a member of our team for a face-to-face chat at one of our carer groups. Our groups are open to people registered with us, to meet and chat with other carers and to access information and support from one of our local carer wellbeing workers.

Arun Wellbeing Team

Arun Wellbeing supports you to improve your health and wellbeing by helping you and your family to get more active, eat more healthily, or simply improve your general wellbeing.

Social Prescribers

This team of Social Prescribers are working with patients of Fitzalan, The Coppice and Angmering GP surgeries to help improve your wellbeing by linking you to appropriate services and support.

They can help you find a new hobby, connect with others in your community or manage a health condition: whatever matters to you.

Prevention & Assessment Team (PAT)

A multi-agency, multidisciplinary teams delivering a preventive service across West Sussex. The team includes health advisors (qualified health professionals); social care workers and support workers from the voluntary sector who can advise over the telephone or come and see you in your own home. Their objective is to improve quality of life and the promotion of health and wellbeing.

Their service is for adults and older people who might not be eligible for other statutory services and who have unmet physical, psychological, social, functional and/or environmental needs.

Carers Health Team

Are a team of health professionals who aim to promote the health and wellbeing of carers. They are a free service provided by Sussex Community NHS Trust providing support for carers over the age of 18 registered with a West Sussex GP. We work directly with carers and will develop individual strategies for each carer with an aim to reduce the strain of coping with their caring role. They may, if it is necessary, also look at the health needs of the person who is being cared for.

Healthwatch West Sussex

Healthwatch is your health and social care champion. If you use GPs and hospitals, dentists, pharmacies, care homes or other support services, we want to hear about your experiences. As an independent

statutory body, we have the power to make sure NHS leaders and other decision makers listen to your feedback and improve standards of care. Last year we helped nearly a million people like you to have your say and get the information and advice you need.

Communities in Mind

Over 65+ Many people experience social isolation, and this impacts their mental health and well-being. This service helps people over 65 in Bognor, Chichester, Lancing, Southwick and surrounding areas who are feeling low, have depression, anxiety or other mental health needs, especially if they are isolated.

My Sister`s House:

Work with you to improve your welfare and wellbeing, reduce your risk of domestic abuse and support your recovery, and help you reach your goals for employment, education or training. Open to all women who recognise themselves as `vulnerable`.

CSWS - Supporting all Communities

 

Mental Health support for the Ukrainian community

For people who have recently arrived in West Sussex from Ukraine and need help with their mental health, we can offer support you, and assist with translation. We also offer advice for people who are hosting a Ukrainian refugee and think they might benefit from our services

 

MIND West Sussex:

West Sussex Mind is reaching out to the Polish communities of Worthing and Littlehampton, offering language assistance to get support and translated mental health resources

Eastergate Community Hub:

  • To help strengthen our local community in a socially inclusive and caring way.

Elevenses `The Community Cuppa` Arundel

Arundel Lido host the community cuppa every Monday morning offering free hot drinks to everyone, in a safe space to enjoy the company of others and engage in conversation.

Short Break Provision

Below you will find a list of providers near you who are offering a variety of carer services for you and the people you look after. Please note all sessions need to be booked prior to attendance – please call the service provider directly. Details of how to do so are below. Location: Age UK Laburnum Centre, Bognor Regis

When: Every Friday - 10am-3pm

Weekly day support from 10am - 3pm for adults living with Dementia.

We support members to engage in stimulating and meaningful activities to promote confidence and social interaction.

Family/friend carers also benefit from the weekly respite this provides.

All refreshments and a two-course lunch provided.

When: Every Thursday - 12.30-3.30pm

Weekly Support for adults living with Dementia and their family/friend carer.

We provide a safe space where people can share experiences and receive support from peers and staff.

Activities also take place along with trips during the year.

Monthly Saturday Activities for Carers and those you care for…

20th May 2023 from 11:00 to 13:00 at The Laburnum Centre, Lyon Street,
Bognor Regis, PO21 1UX

Please join us for a morning of varied social activities that will be
interesting, informative, stimulating and above all fun! Sessions may
include: a Mini Film Club with fascinating clips from local archives;
themed quizzes; games and outdoor get togethers (weather permitting!).

These sessions are designed for carers and cared-for to attend together,
as a joint social event, with activities that will appeal to those who may
have memory problems, such as MCI or mild to moderate dementia, or
who have other care needs. (Carers can attend on their own if they wish
to have a break and enjoy some social time).

This is a chance to get out and meet people in a similar situation in a
caring, supportive atmosphere, enjoy a cuppa together and a social chat.
It can be easy to feel isolated or just in need of a change of scene, and as
such, we would love to see you there.

Free parking available

The cost will be £3.00 per person. Refreshments to be provided
(tea/coffee, biscuits, cake).

Please let us know if you have any allergies or dietary requirements.
