Carers Day Out Weald and Downland Living Museum
June 11 @ 10:30 am - 4:30 pm| Free
CELEBRATE CARERS WEEK
If you’re one of our registered carers please join us for a wonderful FREE day out at the gorgeous Weald and Downland Living Museum in the heart of Sussex – bring the person you care for and/or other friends – up to four tickets per carer. Stay for as short a time as you wish or all day if you would like.
Enjoy the museum’s 40-acre site and visit its collection of historic buildings – more than 50 to explore from a replica Anglo-Saxon hall house to an Edwardian tin tabernacle church as well as new attractions, including a new working bakehouse . There will be some activites for carers to enjoy depending on weather and availability. Take a walk in the woods, visit the waterside café (dog-friendly) or enjoy your own picnic.
Start the day with us over free coffee and cake in the lovely Sargent Room, which overlooks the lake, before visiting the museum site.
Dogs are welcome and can enter all of the Museum’s buildings with the exceptions of the watermill and Winkhurst Tudor kitchen, where food is prepared. Dogs are welcome in the first section of the museum’s café and on the outdoor deck. Please respect other visitors, plus the wildfowl and chickens, by keeping your dog on a short lead and under control – extending leads must be locked at a short length.
If you’re not yet registered as a carer with us please call 0300 028 8888 or register online at https://www.carerssupport.org.uk/register.
(please note the centre of the museum site is flat with parts set on sloping ground, which is steep in places. Some paths are cobbled and their surfaces may cause difficulty for visitors who use a wheelchair or have impaired mobility. The museum does have a limited supply of wheelchairs but please make sure you ring ahead to book and ensure this will be available.)
