Volunteer Assistant – The Crawley Community Shop

The Crawley Community Shop is organised and run by a number of different charities that operate in the Crawley area. The shop is manned by a team of directors and volunteers, enabling local charities and community groups to raise funds. Opening to the public on Friday afternoons and all day on Saturday.

About the role:

  • Accepting donations from the public

  • Sorting and processing donated goods

  • Hanging, pricing and putting donated goods out into the shop

  • Serving customers, offering help and advice where needed

  • Ensuring the shop is kept clean and tidy at all times

  • Helping to raise the profile of Carers Support West Sussex by engaging with the general public.

  • Working within the Crawley Community Shop`s Volunteering Code of Conduct at all times

Location: Worth Road, Pound Hill Crawley RH10 7EP.

Hours Involved: Saturday mornings 9am – 12.45pm `Carers Support West Sussex` Blouse will be provided

Skills and Competencies required:

  • Have an understanding and insight into how Carers Support West Sussex supports Carers in West Sussex

  • Excellent communication skills, being sociable, cheerful and courteous in all you do

  • Good level of fitness and mobility – moving stock and extended time on your feet are all core parts of this role

  • Ability to work as part of a team

  • Able to give one shift a week on a Saturday Morning

Training & Support

Carers Support West Sussex  Induction Training  – 1.5hrs session

Role related training provided by the team at the Crawley Community Shop

This role is available to anyone over the age of 18yrs
