Earlier this month Glyn, Dan and Roger, together with partners from the Young Carers Team at West Sussex County Council, took a group of 23 Young and Young Adult Carers on a residential camping trip to the Isle of Wight.  It’s seen as a great chance for carers to socialise with some of their peers and with people who understand what it’s like to be in a caring situation but also to achieve things outside their comfort zone and to increase their confidence.

While on the trip carers were taking part in activities such as archery, kayaking and paddle boarding.

The residential is paid for through fundraising and we’re soon going to be releasing a short video about the residential designed to help fund future trips and residentials.

One short quote about the trip:

“I could see an immediate impact with one YAC who suffered from real travel and water anxiety. Not only did she make it on the trains and the ferry but she was also kayaking and paddleboarding! She really faced her fears and engaged really well with the whole trip.”
