Priority Service Register (PSR)

The PSR is a free UK wide service which provides extra advice and support, including when there’s an interruption to your electricity, gas or water supply. Being on the register alerts the energy suppliers and water networks that you may have extra communication, access or safety needs.

Some of the ways an energy supplier might help include:

  • A priority number that you can call 24 hours a day
  • Text and voice message alerts, letting you know when we are aware of a large power cut in your area
  • Tailored support if needed such as home visits, hot meals, advice and keeping your friends and relatives updated
  • Where possible we will send you text and voice messages when we expect severe weather to help you prepare
  • For complex power cuts community welfare teams provide on-site support which includes hot drinks, hot meals, a wifi connection and charge points

You are eligle for free PSR services if you:

  • Use medical equipment reliant on electricity or water
  • Live with children under five
  • Are blind or partially sighted
  • Are deaf or hard of hearing
  • Have a chronic illness
  • Have anxiety, depression or any mental health condition
  • Have a disability
  • Are of pensionable age
  • Loss or impairment of smell
  • Need documents translated into another format or language
  • Temporarily need extra support
  • Everyone has different needs. Contact your distributor to discuss your requirements

How to register:

The PSR is completely free and confidential and it means you’ll always get the help you need, particularly in an emergency. If you’re not registered on your supplier’s PSR, we can help you join.
