Fundraising for Businesses

Every day, colleagues in West Sussex quietly juggle paid work with caring for someone who couldn’t manage without them. More than half of the 72,815 unpaid carers across the country are also in employment, often dealing with the pressure of dual roles without receiving the support they need.

Your organisation can make a real difference. By fundraising through your business (and encouraging staff to take part in fundraising activities), you help us provide practical support, advice and guidance to unpaid carers so they feel more able to cope, and less alone.

For Employers

Whether you’re looking for a “charity of the year” partnership, a one-off staff fundraiser, or a longer-term relationship, we’ll help you choose something that fits your culture and capacity.

Run a team fundraising event

Bring colleagues together through an office challenge, sponsored activity, dress-down day, quiz, bake sale, raffle, sweepstake – the list is endless! We can provide ideas and resources to help you get your fundraising team building started, and it’s worth the effort; 47% of employees say charity fundraising increase their willingness to “go the extra mile” for colleagues and employers.

Choose us as your charity partner

Did you know 33% of jobseekers actively look for employers with charity programmes? That’s why some employers choose a local charity partner for a set period, encouraging staff fundraising across multiple activities and sharing impact updates along the way.

Match your employees’ fundraising

Many larger organisations choose to match what staff raise through sponsorship and events, exponentially increasing the impact of each fundraiser. 84% of donors say they are more likely to give if their donation is match funded, and 1 in 3 donors would give a larger gift if match funding is applied. (We can help you set this up in a straightforward way.)

Sponsor our work

If you prefer, your organisation can fund a specific piece of work or resource that supports unpaid carers, strengthening brand trust and reputation amongst new and prospective employees (7 in 10 people want to work for organisations with social impact). We can discuss options that align with your goals and values, and share reports and updates so you can see the impact your donation has made.

Offer payroll giving

Some employers offer payroll giving so staff can donate small amounts regularly, which helps to build morale, loyalty and engagement - 85% of employees feel more connected to their workplace when participating in payroll giving. We can share guidance and wording to support you in setting this up.

Promote the Giving Lottery

The Giving Lottery is a way for individuals to donate with a chance of getting something in return! For £1 a ticket, supporters enter a weekly prize draw to win prizes of up to £25,000, and 40% of all ticket sales go directly to the charity. You can buy tickets as gifts for customers or prizes for employees, helping to spread awareness of CSWS and the carers we support.

£1000

£1000 could support regular wellbeing activities at a carer group, creating space for carers to connect and take a break

£5000

£5,000 could help fund our Check in and Chat service for carers feeling isolated or overwhelmed

£10,000

£10,000 could contribute to young carers’ residentials and summer camps, giving them time to relax, have fun and just be children

For Employees

Want to support unpaid carers but not sure where to start? Whether you’re doing a sponsored run, holding a team fundraiser, or simply sharing our message, your effort helps carers in West Sussex feel recognised and supported.

Ask your employer about:

Match Funding:

Some workplaces will match the money you raise through sponsorship and fundraising events, meaning your impact could be doubled. Ask your HR team whether your employer offers match funding, how much they will match, and whether it applies to things like sponsored runs, bake sales, and team challenges. It’s often as simple as submitting your fundraising total (or a receipt/JustGiving link) through an internal form.

Payroll Giving

Payroll Giving: Payroll Giving (sometimes called Give As You Earn) lets you donate straight from your pay usually as a small, regular amount that’s easy to keep up over time. Ask HR whether your workplace offers Payroll Giving, how to sign up, and whether you can choose Carers Support West Sussex as your charity. It’s a simple way to give consistently without having to remember each month.

Charity of the Year

Many organisations have a Charity of the Year scheme where staff can nominate and vote for a charity to support through fundraising and workplace giving. Ask HR when nominations open, how the selection process works, and what support the chosen charity receives (for example: staff fundraising activities, a one-off donation, or internal fundraising campaigns). If your workplace runs this scheme, nominating us is a brilliant way to put unpaid carers on the agenda at work.

Let’s make this easy
