Crawley Community Shop – Volunteer
The Crawley Community Shop is organised and run by a management committee supporting several charities that operate in the Crawley area. The shop is manned by a team of trustees and volunteers, enabling local charities and community groups to raise funds. Opening to the public on Fridays and Saturdays. You will be volunteering as part of the shop team of volunteers and will abide by their policies and procedures. The hours you contribute will raise funds for Carers Support West Sussex which will go towards supporting carers within the Crawley area.
About the role
- Accepting donations from the public
- Sorting and processing donated goods
- Hanging, pricing and putting donated goods out into the shop
- Serving customers, offering help and advice where needed
- Ensuring the shop is kept clean and tidy at all times
- Helping to raise the profile of Carers Support West Sussex by engaging with the general public
- Working within the Crawley Community Shop`s Volunteering Code of Conduct at all times
Skills and Personal Qualities Required:
- Excellent communication skills, being sociable, cheerful and courteous in all you do
- Good level of fitness and mobility – moving stock and extended time on your feet are all core parts of this role
- Ability to work as part of a team
- An understanding and insight into how Carers Support West Sussex supports Carers in West Sussex (not essential as will be included in training)
- Able to give one shift a week on a Friday or Saturday
Training and Support
- Carers Support West Sussex Induction Training – 3 hour
- Role related training provided by the management team at the Crawley Community Shop
- Moving and handling training & shop Health & Safety
- Working within Covid-19 Guidance for which training will be provided by Crawley Community Shop
This role is available to anyone over the age of 18yrs
Two References will be requested
The Community Shop Trustees require that all volunteers have been fully vaccinated for Covid-19

Location:
Worth Road, Pound Hill, Crawley, RH10 7EP.
Travel expenses will be reimbursed via Carers Support West Sussex
Timings and Commitment:
Friday or Saturday mornings 9am – 12.45pm `Carers Support West Sussex` shirt will be provided
